Experience Modification Rate (EMR)
Most companies
are required to obtain and retain workers compensation insurance. The experience modification rate (EMR) shows
how well a company manages injuries on the job. When a company begins business, the EMR begins at a multiplier
of 1, meaning whatever the dollar percentage of the cost of the workers comp is multiplied by the EMR.
Companies that have poor experiences with on-the-job injuries will have a EMR above 1. Companies that are
successful in the management of on-the-job injuries will have a EMR of less than 1. Currently, the EMR for WMI
is 0.76 – meaning we can pass these savings on to our clients!
